Lectern Terms of Service
Updated October 16, 2026 · Version 2026-10-16
Who provides Lectern
Lectern is operated by CT Studio, LLC, 1605 Oak Hollow Dr, Woodway, TX 76712, United States. Contact rcade.tullis@gmail.com for support, privacy, security, billing, or copyright questions.
These Terms govern your use of Lectern. The Privacy Notice, Subscription and Refund Policy, and Content and Copyright Policy describe the related features. Nonwaivable consumer rights remain in effect.
Eligibility and your account
The initial Lectern public beta accepts only users in the United States who are at least 18 years old. You must confirm that you meet this requirement when creating an account or accepting an eligibility update. People under 18 may not create or use a beta account, even with guardian permission. This beta does not offer a teen or guardian-consent account program.
Provide accurate eligibility and account information. Keep your credentials secure and tell us promptly about unauthorized access. Do not impersonate another person or institution. A school, course, or professor name on a set is creator-supplied metadata, not verification or endorsement.
Studying and automated assistance
You choose your source material and what to study. Free and Plus features are described in the product and at checkout. Supported formats and features can vary by browser, connectivity, and content.
Questions, automated grading, generated variations, scientific checks, and scheduling estimates can contain errors. Review important information against your source materials. Lectern does not guarantee grades, examination results, professional qualifications, or learning outcomes. It does not provide medical, psychological, legal, or other professional advice.
The Knowledge Map summarizes your study evidence. It is not a measure of intelligence, a diagnosis, or a scan of your brain. Planning and sleep-window suggestions are optional study assistance.
Your content and permissions
You retain your rights in content you create or upload. Submit only material you own, are licensed to use, or otherwise may lawfully use. Respect other people's privacy, institutional rules, and copyright.
You grant CT Studio, LLC a nonexclusive license to host, store, back up, display, transmit, format, and process your content to provide the features you request, including study variations, format conversion, grading, and your chosen sharing. This license does not transfer ownership or authorize unrelated sale of private study material or general-purpose model training.
The operational license ends as deleted content is removed, except for limited retention needed for security, legal obligations, disputes, backups, and lawful copies already made under your sharing permissions. The Privacy Notice explains deletion and retention.
Sharing and copies
Review a set's visibility before saving or sharing it. New creator sets default to Public; choosing Private restricts access. Public content may be discoverable, and an unlisted link may be forwarded. Your personal answers and learning history are not made public by sharing a set.
Saving a reference and making an independent copy are different actions. Copying, downloading, and reuse depend on permissions and applicable licenses. Revoking access does not necessarily recall previously authorized exports or lawful independent copies. Public visibility does not put third-party copyrighted material in the public domain.
Subscriptions
The price, billing interval, taxes if applicable, and renewal terms displayed before purchase govern the subscription you authorize. Subscriptions renew until canceled. Cancel future renewal online in Settings → Billing or through its customer portal. Cancellation normally preserves Plus through the paid-through date. Free features and your available source-content exports remain accessible when Plus ends.
Subscription payments are nonrefundable except as required by law or to correct an improper charge, as explained in the Subscription and Refund Policy. No live payments are collected while the product indicates test billing. Never enter real card details into a test checkout.
Acceptable use
Do not access other people's private data, bypass payment or security controls, upload malware, abuse compute or storage, forge study evidence, or interfere with the service. Do not use sharing for exploitation, threats, harassment, impersonation, unlawful disclosure, or unauthorized exam and instructor-only materials. Legitimate educational discussion of sensitive subjects is allowed under the Content Policy.
Code and scientific builders have stated limits. Do not attempt to escape their isolation or use them to attack the service or other systems. Reasonable file, storage, request, and abuse limits apply; generation is not promised to be unlimited.
Corrections, moderation, and account closure
Use Report for inaccurate questions, grading problems, rights issues, and abuse. We may withdraw disputed material, correct learning records, or restrict an account proportionately for violations, security threats, legal requirements, or nonpayment affecting paid features. Contact support to challenge an action. Where appropriate, we explain the reason and allow review; urgent protective action may occur first.
You can export available content and request deletion in Settings. Ending access does not erase obligations or lawful records that must survive closure. If we permanently discontinue a paid service before the end of a paid period, we will provide any remedy required by law and an appropriate refund for the unavailable remainder.
Changes and availability
We may maintain or improve Lectern and may experience outages. We give appropriate notice of material changes affecting paid access, personal information, or these Terms, and seek new agreement where required. A price increase follows the separate affirmative-consent process in the Subscription Policy.
Warranties and liability
To the extent permitted by law, Lectern is provided as available without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, or fitness for a particular educational result. This does not exclude warranties or remedies that law requires.
To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses arising from these Terms. CT Studio, LLC's aggregate liability for claims concerning the service is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid Lectern during the 12 months before the claim. These limits do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not permit particular limits, so those limits may not apply to you.
Disputes and general terms
Contact support first if you wish to seek an informal resolution; doing so is not a prerequisite to exercising statutory rights. Texas law governs to the extent it does not displace mandatory protections that apply where you live. Courts with proper jurisdiction, including an eligible small-claims court, remain available. These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or a class-action waiver.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent lawful. Our failure to enforce a provision immediately does not waive it. You may not transfer your account in a way that defeats security or another person's rights. Contact CT Studio, LLC at the address or email above about these Terms.
